Volvo XC90:

The Volvo XC90 is a mid-size luxury SUV manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars since 2002 and in its second generation.
The first generation was introduced at the 2002 North American International Auto Show and used the Volvo P2 platform shared with the first generation Volvo S80 and other large Volvo cars. I bought the 2025 in March and have had no issues. It’s a great car. We installed a level 2 charger so we can charge it faster. I can run errands around town without using gas - the highway not so much. The only issue I have is the awkward and clunky screen display/controls - to change from hybrid to pure etc. you have to click through to the right page which isn’t ideal while driving.

I have a 2023 T8, absolutely love it. Gets about 35miles per charge which is plenty for my daily needs. Only time I fill it up is for road trips. For reliability, no major issues so far. A few OS related glitches like non working cameras and such, but nothing that couldn't be cleared up by resetting the center console.

How often do you take those road trips? Hybrid xc90 won’t get better mpg than regular xc90 on a highway. You just drag the battery with you (but you can enjoy way more power). Hybrids shine in the city when it comes to mpg.

Leased '25 in Nov during the fire sale. Also was unsure on hybrid, reliability, etc .. could not be happier with this car. It's got power, safety features, and a smooth ride. Will prob end up buying it next year, depending how the market looks with tariffs etc.. it's a GREAT car

22 T8 with 91k miles. No real issues beside the awful low profile tires, came with 21". So many flats. Doing much better with 20" wheels now. It's criminal that there is no spare. If you get a flat with 21" it is about 2 days to get a tire due to the uncommon size at least in the bay area.

I’ve owned T8’s since 2021 (2023,2024, and 2025 model years). Had some finicky issues new that were all resolved. All the finicky stuff is just annoyances. Ebrake didn’t release once, wouldn’t start, wouldn’t go into gear. My 2025 has had zero issues.

I went the opposite direction from an XC90 to a GL450. Both great vehicles in any trim or powertrain. If you won’t miss the extra space and towing capacity then can’t go wrong with the Volvo. Get an extended warranty if you plan on keeping it, for peace of mind.

I’ve got a 2016 T8 in my family still going strong. 105K km. In year 7 the air conditioning died, which was repaired under the electric powertrain warranty. The sunroof drain clogged and leaked into the floor. This was an inexpensive clean up and repair.
