The first generation was introduced at the 2002 North American International Auto Show and used the Volvo P2 platform shared with the first generation Volvo S80 and other large Volvo cars. Most of the sound in the BMW was fake and made by a speaker, unless you had an aftermarket exhaust fitted. You can make those Volvo 4 cylinders sound decent, Polestar did it with the last of the Y352 V60s, which had the Twin Charged 4 cylinder.

I got the xc90 over x5 primarily due to roomier 2nd row. But there is nothing like that Bmw inline 6. And i also like the boxier styling of the volvo and interior design language. Bmw interior is super gross

We just traded in our MY18 T8 with extra everything and it has not had any major issues during the almost 6 years we owned it. The air suspension acted out a few times due to hard driving through the Alps.
