👍 POSITIVE
I’ve owned a Golf Mk7 for about five years now, and it’s been pretty solid overall. Regular maintenance is key, once you stay on top of oil changes and timing belt intervals, it runs great. The 1.4 TSI engine has been reliable for me and still feels punchy for daily driving. Interior quality and comfort are excellent for the price too. I’d just avoid the older DSG transmissions or early TSI engine
👎 NEGATIVE
Mk6 1.6tdi golf, great going car even though it had a hard life with my wife who didnt look after it all bar me getting it serviced regulary-done 185,000 miles with no issues until gearbox calved -wasnt worth me getting fixed so sold on to a breaker/mechanic whos putting it back on the road with a salvaged gearbox
👍 POSITIVE
Yes probably the most reliable car I’ve had,if you look after it it will look after you
👍 POSITIVE
Look for 2016+ if you’re in USA. It’s probably the most reliable car you can get, short of the thermostat unit. For those in the know, it’s one of the best cars ever made too!
😐 NEUTRAL
if you have never had a Volkswagen, get ready to do prevent preventative maintenance. obviously oil changes, but transmission, transmission fluid changes, brake fluid flush, and the like. If you properly care for Volkswagen, it will be very good to you
👍 POSITIVE
We have not one but 2. Both around 160,000 miles. All original. Sunroof issues were a pain in the ass with zero direction from 3 separate dealerships acting like we were crazy. I think VW wanted the warranty to expire before admitting they screwed up on the Panoramic Roofs... But beyond that. Excellent. Most versatile yet tough vehicle you can get in the USA in my opinion. Both of ours are diesel
👍 POSITIVE
I have one and it is still going strong. Apart from one costly cam belt change and the vents and speaker seals going, letting rain water in. (Easily fixed) Had no other issues.
😐 NEUTRAL
Get a 2014 it’s the last year they put the 2.5 in it.
😐 NEUTRAL
As long as it doesn't have the 7-speed dry dual clutch gearbox it should be reliable.
👍 POSITIVE
I’ve been driving a ‘19 1.6tdi, white, a spec up from the photo but near identical. I came from a Tesla Model S as I needed a car with a manual box for my kids to learn how to drive. I love this Golf, just ticks all the boxes, so economical, smooth and solidly built.
