Toyota Avensis:

The Toyota Avensis is a mid-size/large family car built in Derbyshire, United Kingdom by the Japanese automaker Toyota from October 1997 to August 2018. It was the direct successor to the European Carina E and was available as a four-door saloon, five-door liftback and estate.
The Avensis was introduced in 1997, to create a more modern name when compared with the Carina E. The "Avensis" name is derived from the French term avancer, meaning "to advance" or "move forward". The Avensis was not sold in North America, and it is related to the Scion tC coupé. I'd take the Toyota or Honda over the Mazda. Mazda are getting more and more Toyota influence but this predates that. Also the 2.2 Mazda diesel engine is terrible. CVT is not going to make driving it fun but these cars aren't meant to be fun to begin with. I'd also avoid the euro 6 diesel in the Toyota, unless you want an N47 BMW engine (yuck)
👎 NEGATIVE
The Mazda Diesels are not great, especially the 2.2l diesel. The Toyota diesels are okay (Excluding the 2.2l's), but they command such a high price on the market. Especially when I think for the years of the Auris you're looking at, they used a BMW running gear for the diesels. The honda diesels (1.6 or 2.2l) are both great. But again, they are all so expensive compared to their competitors.
👍 POSITIVE
Best car I ever owned. They just built too good of a car. Remember when ALL the car manufacturers were being exposed for fudging EPA numbers right after??? Yeah… I do.
😐 NEUTRAL
In my opinion, the Honda / Toyota reliability thing is a myth. When Japanese manufacturers took off in the US, I'm sure that their product was significantly better than the sleds and barges US automakers were churning out, but in the modern era things have tightened up and no manufacturer has a spotless record. Toyota had an unintended acceleration incident (which everyone seems to have forgotten
👍 POSITIVE
I’ve convinced myself the answer would be a resounding “yes”.
😐 NEUTRAL
Paragraphs please! On the brake squeal issue, Toyota has a TSB out on it, so you can have it corrected for free under warranty (they will replace several parts in your brakes).
👎 NEGATIVE
The lift looks ridiculously bad
😐 NEUTRAL
Why did you lift it? Would it not be easier to leave stock and take advantage of fuel savings, if it's only being used for commuting on mountain roads?
👍 POSITIVE
Truck looks great! I hope it treats you well.
👎 NEGATIVE
That horrible interior is made from melted Nokia 3310 plastic and will survive direct hit from nuclear missile.
