3.5 (260 Hp) Xtronic CVT Verdict:

Rating 7 stars

Performance Verdict

Similar to the AWD variant, the 3.5L VQ35DE V6 offers sufficient power for daily driving and highway merges. The Xtronic CVT delivers smooth power delivery, though it lacks the responsiveness of traditional automatic transmissions.

Fuel Economy

This FWD variant offers slightly better fuel economy than its AWD counterpart, making it a more economical choice for those who don't require all-wheel drive. Still, it remains average for a large V6 SUV.

Best Use Case: Family / Urban Commuting

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious and comfortable 7-seater interior
  • • Smooth V6 engine power delivery
  • • Good ride quality for a family SUV
  • • Improved on-road dynamics over previous generations
  • • Decent cargo capacity with seats folded

Cons:

  • • CVT transmission can feel unengaging and lead to 'rubber band' effect
  • • Fuel economy is only average for its class
  • • Less off-road capable than previous Pathfinder generations
  • • Some interior materials feel less premium
  • • Early CVT models had reliability concerns
