3.5 i V6 24V (248 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 9 stars

Performance Verdict

Delivers strong acceleration and robust power, making it a much more engaging drive. The V6 engine provides confident highway passing and a sportier feel compared to the base engine.

Fuel Economy

As expected for a V6, fuel economy is lower than the 2.5L, but still acceptable given the significant performance boost. It's a trade-off for power.

Best Use Case: Highway cruising, spirited driving, drivers seeking more power and responsiveness.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious interior and trunk for its class
  • • Strong V6 engine option (VQ35DE) offers excellent performance
  • • Comfortable ride quality suitable for long journeys
  • • Generally good value on the used car market
  • • Distinctive styling for its era

Cons:

  • • Base 2.5L engine can feel underpowered with the 4-speed automatic
  • • Interior materials and build quality are not as refined as some competitors
  • • Some common reliability concerns, particularly with automatic transmissions and certain engine components (e.g., QR25DE head gasket issues)
  • • Road noise can be noticeable at highway speeds
  • • Dated 4-speed automatic transmission in the 2.5L model
