Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross:

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact crossover SUV produced by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since October 2017. It was previewed by the XR-PHEV and XR-PHEV II concepts, revealed in 2013 and 2015. The production version was first introduced at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. It slots between the RVR/ASX/Outlander Sport and Outlander in Mitsubishi's global crossover lineup.
The diesel variant was launched in June 2019, followed by the PHEV variant in December 2020. The diesel is not available in North America. 1.5 MIVEC (152 Hp) S-AWC CVT Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers adequate power for daily driving and highway cruising. The S-AWC system provides excellent traction and stability, though the CVT can make acceleration feel less immediate.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is average for a turbocharged petrol SUV of this size with all-wheel drive. It's not class-leading but acceptable for mixed use.

Best Use Case: Mixed driving, especially suitable for regions with varied weather conditions where S-AWC can be beneficial.

Pros and Cons:

  • • Available Plug-in Hybrid offers excellent efficiency and low emissions.
  • • Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system provides superior traction.

  • • Practical interior with decent cargo space.

Cons:

  • • CVT transmission can feel unrefined and dull performance.
  • • Petrol engine performance is adequate but not exciting.
