Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross:
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact crossover SUV produced by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since October 2017. It was previewed by the XR-PHEV and XR-PHEV II concepts, revealed in 2013 and 2015. The production version was first introduced at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. It slots between the RVR/ASX/Outlander Sport and Outlander in Mitsubishi's global crossover lineup.
The diesel variant was launched in June 2019, followed by the PHEV variant in December 2020. The diesel is not available in North America. The name of this vehicle originates from the unrelated compact sports car, the Eclipse. Unlike the original Eclipse, however, the Eclipse Cross is not assembled in the United States as Mitsubishi closed its Diamond-Star Motors plant in Normal, Illinois in February 2016. Instead, the SUV is assembled in Japan, China, and Brazil....(Read more on Wikipedia)
facelift 2021 Overview:
Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (facelift 2021). With 249 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. With a weight of 1507 kg, it falls in the mid‑range. Front‑wheel drive delivers efficiency and easy handling. A sport utility vehicle offering higher ground clearance and versatile cargo space. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
Performance Verdict
Delivers adequate performance for everyday driving, similar to the S-AWC variant but without the enhanced all-wheel-drive traction. The CVT can still feel a bit unrefined under hard acceleration.
Fuel Economy
Slightly better fuel economy than the S-AWC version due to less drivetrain loss, but still falls within the average range for a front-wheel-drive petrol SUV.
Best Use Case:
Urban and highway driving in mild climates, suitable for drivers who don't require all-wheel-drive capabilities.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Distinctive exterior styling stands out in its segment.
- • Available Plug-in Hybrid offers excellent efficiency and low emissions.
- • Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system provides superior traction.
- • Good safety rating from Euro NCAP.
- • Practical interior with decent cargo space.
Cons:
- • CVT transmission can feel unrefined and dull performance.
- • Petrol engine performance is adequate but not exciting.
- • Interior materials, while improved, still trail some rivals.
- • Rear visibility can be compromised by the split rear window design.
- • Limited engine choices compared to some competitors.
