GMC Canyon:
The Chevrolet Colorado is a series of compact pickup trucks and mid-size pickup trucks marketed by American automaker General Motors. They were introduced in 2004 to replace the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15/Sonoma compact pickups. The Colorado is named after the U. S. state of Colorado, while the Canyon took its name from the deep chasm between cliffs.
The Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon, were jointly designed by GM's North American operations, GM's Brazil operations, and Isuzu, which began selling its own version worldwide in 2002. Production began in October 2003. In late 2005, Isuzu offered a version in North America called the Isuzu i-series. This North American model Isuzu shared North American powertrains, styling, and equipment with the Colorado/Canyon twins and differed from Isuzu's worldwide offering. All Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu versions worldwide are based on the GMT355, itself the basis for the GMT 345-based Hummer H3. Performance Verdict
Sharing the same potent 2.7L turbocharged engine, this 4WD variant maintains the impressive 313 Hp and 583 Nm of torque. The added four-wheel-drive capability significantly enhances traction and off-road prowess without compromising on the strong on-road performance provided by the Hydra-Matic transmission.
Fuel Economy
Fuel economy will be slightly lower than the RWD version due to the added weight and drivetrain losses of the 4WD system. However, it remains competitive for a powerful 4WD mid-size pickup, offering a good balance for its capability.
Best Use Case:
Off-road adventures, heavy towing, adverse weather conditions, and demanding work environments requiring maximum traction.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Powerful and torquey 2.7L Turbo engine across the lineup
- • High towing capacity (up to 3493 kg)
- • Modern interior with advanced technology and comfort features
- • Excellent off-road capability, especially with 4WD trims
- • Refined ride quality for a mid-size pickup
Cons:
- • Fuel economy, while competitive, is still that of a petrol truck
- • Large dimensions can be challenging in tight urban spaces
- • Higher trims can become quite expensive
- • Ride can still be truck-like over rougher surfaces compared to SUVs
