Buick Enclave:
The Buick Enclave is a three-row full-size crossover SUV produced by General Motors since 2007. It was previewed at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, officially as a concept car, making it the first Lambda vehicle to be displayed. The Enclave is partially based on the Buick Centieme concept shown at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show.
The first-generation Enclave, the Saturn Outlook, the original GMC Acadia, and the first-generation Chevrolet Traverse all shared the GM Lambda platform.
The Enclave replaced both of Buick's SUVs, the minivan-based Rendezvous and the truck-based Rainier, as well as the Terraza minivan. The second-generation Enclave was officially revealed at the 2017 New York International Auto Show....(Read more on Wikipedia)
I (facelift 2013) Overview:
Buick Enclave (I (facelift 2013)). With 366 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. At around 2233 kg, it’s on the heavier side. All‑wheel drive provides excellent grip, ideal for off‑road use. A sport utility vehicle offering higher ground clearance and versatile cargo space. A vehicle that combines characteristics of SUVs and hatchbacks for versatility. With seating for 7, it’s perfect for larger families.
Performance Verdict
The AWD variant offers identical power output to the FWD model, providing confident traction in adverse weather conditions. Acceleration remains smooth and sufficient for a large family SUV, with a slight weight penalty.
Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is marginally lower than the FWD model due to the added weight and drivetrain losses of the AWD system. Expect slightly higher consumption, especially in urban driving.
Best Use Case:
All-weather driving and light off-road capability, ideal for families in regions with varied climates or those needing extra traction.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious and comfortable interior with 7-8 seat capacity
- • Smooth and quiet ride quality, typical of Buick
- • Generous cargo space, especially with seats folded
- • Refined powertrain for its class
- • Available AWD for enhanced traction
Cons:
- • Fuel economy is only average for its segment
- • Large exterior dimensions can make parking challenging
- • Interior design, while comfortable, can feel dated compared to newer rivals
- • Some known issues with the 3.6L V6 (e.g., timing chains, water pump)
- • Steering can feel somewhat numb
