2.0 (106 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 7 stars

Performance Verdict

The 2.0-liter engine provided adequate performance for a 1970s lightweight sports car, offering spirited acceleration suitable for enjoyable cruising rather than outright speed.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy for the 2.0-liter engine was typical for its era, not particularly efficient by modern standards but acceptable for a carbureted sports car of the late 70s.

Best Use Case: Weekend cruising, scenic drives, classic car rallies.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Distinctive 'wedge' styling (love it or hate it)
  • • Enjoyable open-top driving experience
  • • Relatively affordable entry into classic car ownership
  • • Good handling characteristics for its time

Cons:

  • • Notorious for build quality and reliability issues (British Leyland era)
  • • Performance is modest by modern standards
  • • Interior can feel cramped for taller occupants
  • • Polarizing design may not appeal to everyone
