Toyota Avensis:
The Toyota Avensis is a mid-size/large family car built in Derbyshire, United Kingdom by the Japanese automaker Toyota from October 1997 to August 2018. It was the direct successor to the European Carina E and was available as a four-door saloon, five-door liftback and estate.
The Avensis was introduced in 1997, to create a more modern name when compared with the Carina E. The "Avensis" name is derived from the French term avancer, meaning "to advance" or "move forward". III (facelift 2015) Overview:
Toyota Avensis (III (facelift 2015)). With 196 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. It has moderate fuel consumption (~8.4 l/100km). Front‑wheel drive delivers efficiency and easy handling. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 10 s). The top speed reaches 205 km/h. A four-door car with a separate trunk, ideal for families and daily commuting. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
Performance Verdict
A slight power bump over the 1.8L, providing marginally better acceleration. Still paired with the Multidrive S CVT, offering smooth but not particularly dynamic performance.
Fuel Economy
Acceptable fuel consumption for a 2.0L automatic petrol, though slightly higher than the 1.8L variant.
Best Use Case:
Highway cruising and longer journeys, where the extra power is beneficial, coupled with the comfort of an automatic.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Exceptional reliability and build quality, a Toyota hallmark.
- • Comfortable and composed ride, ideal for long journeys.
- • Excellent fuel economy, especially with the BMW-sourced D-4D diesel engines.
