Toyota Avensis:
The Toyota Avensis is a mid-size/large family car built in Derbyshire, United Kingdom by the Japanese automaker Toyota from October 1997 to August 2018. It was the direct successor to the European Carina E and was available as a four-door saloon, five-door liftback and estate.
The Avensis was introduced in 1997, to create a more modern name when compared with the Carina E. The "Avensis" name is derived from the French term avancer, meaning "to advance" or "move forward". The Avensis was not sold in North America, and it is related to the Scion tC coupé. It also shared a platform with the Allion and Premio and was available at Japanese dealership network Toyota Netz Store....(Read more on Wikipedia)
III (facelift 2012) Overview:
Toyota Avensis (III (facelift 2012)). With 196 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. It has moderate fuel consumption (~9.1 l/100km). With a weight of 1410 kg, it falls in the mid‑range. Front‑wheel drive delivers efficiency and easy handling. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 10 s). The top speed reaches 205 km/h. A four-door car with a separate trunk, ideal for families and daily commuting. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
Performance Verdict
Smooth and refined for relaxed driving, but the CVT can lead to a 'rubber band' effect under acceleration, making it less engaging for spirited driving.
Fuel Economy
Acceptable fuel economy for a petrol automatic, though not as efficient as the diesel options.
Best Use Case:
City driving, comfortable daily commutes, and drivers prioritizing smoothness over outright performance.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Exceptional reliability and build quality, typical of Toyota.
- • Comfortable and refined ride, ideal for long journeys.
- • Spacious interior and large boot, practical for families.
- • Strong and fuel-efficient diesel engine options.
- • Excellent Euro NCAP safety rating.
Cons:
- • Petrol engines, especially with CVT, can feel uninspiring.
- • Conservative styling may not appeal to all buyers.
- • Interior design, while functional, can feel dated compared to rivals.
- • Not the most engaging car to drive, lacking dynamic flair.
