The new generation Rexton features SsangYong's new body-on-frame platform, which it shares with the Musso pick-up. Other improvements include active safety driving pack, increased towing capacity, and electric parking brake system with auto hold. The Rexton is offered with a choice of a new 2. 0L petrol turbo or 2. 2L diesel engine and available in two or four-wheel drive. It is equipped with Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic automatic or Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual transmission....(Read more on Wikipedia)

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

The 2.2 e-XDi engine provides a solid 202 Hp and 441 Nm of torque, offering adequate acceleration (0-60mph in 10.7s) and strong pulling power for a large SUV, especially for highway cruising.

Fuel Economy

With a combined fuel consumption of 7.6-8.7 l/100 km (WLTP 8.6 l/100 km), the diesel engine offers reasonable economy for its size and capability, though not class-leading.

Best Use Case: Highway / Towing

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Excellent towing capacity (up to 2700 kg)
  • • Spacious and practical interior, especially 7-seat variants
  • • Strong value for money compared to rivals
  • • Robust body-on-frame construction for durability and off-road capability (4WD models)
  • • Comprehensive standard safety features

Cons:

  • • Brand perception and resale value can lag behind mainstream competitors
  • • Interior refinement and material quality, while improved, still trail some premium rivals
  • • Acceleration is adequate but not sporty
  • • Fuel economy, while reasonable for a large SUV, isn't segment-leading
  • • Limited engine options (only one diesel)
