Mitsubishi Space Gear:

The Mitsubishi Delica is a range of vans and pickup trucks designed and built by the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since 1968. It was originally based on a cabover van and pickup truck introduced the previous year, also called the Delica, its name a contraction of the English language phrase Delivery car. This pickup truck, and a commercial van derived from it has received many names in export markets, being sold as the L300 in Europe, Jamaica and New Zealand, Express and Starwagon in Australia, and plain Mitsubishi Van and Wagon in the United States. The passenger car versions were known as Delica Star Wagon from 1979 until the 1994 introduction of the Delica Space Gear, which became simply Space Gear in Europe at least. The most recent version is called the Delica D:5. With the exception of the first, versions of all generations are still being sold in various international markets....(Read more on Wikipedia)

2.0 i 16V GL (113 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 3 stars

Performance Verdict

The entry-level petrol engine, offering just enough power for city driving and light loads. It can feel underpowered on highways or when fully loaded, making overtakes challenging.

Fuel Economy

Potentially the most economical petrol option, but its modest power means it often has to work harder, which can negate some fuel savings. Best for urban and suburban use.

Best Use Case: City Commuting / Suburban Family Car

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious and versatile interior, ideal for families or cargo.
  • • Robust 4WD system (on applicable trims) offers excellent off-road capability for a minivan.
  • • Generally reliable engines, especially the diesels, known for longevity.
  • • Good value on the used market, offering a lot of utility for the price.

Cons:

  • • Outdated safety features compared to modern vehicles.
  • • Fuel consumption can be high, particularly with the V6 petrol and older diesels.
  • • Performance can be sluggish with the lower-powered engines, especially when fully loaded.
  • • Ride comfort can be truck-like due to its robust chassis, not as refined as modern minivans.
