1.8 i 16V GDI (140 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 3 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers adequate power for daily driving and city commutes. The GDI system provides decent low-end torque, making it feel responsive in urban settings, though highway overtaking may require planning.

Fuel Economy

The GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) technology aimed for improved fuel efficiency for its era. Real-world economy is reasonable for a compact minivan, but older GDI engines can be sensitive to fuel quality and require regular maintenance to prevent carbon buildup.

Pros:

  • • Versatile and spacious interior for its compact size
  • • Available powerful 2.0L Turbo engine offers surprising performance
  • • Good visibility and maneuverability for city driving
  • • Practical and family-friendly design
  • • Reliable mechanicals (especially non-GDI variants)

Cons:

  • • GDI engines can be prone to carbon buildup and require specific maintenance
  • • Interior plastics and design can feel dated by modern standards
  • • Limited availability in some international markets
  • • Safety features are basic compared to newer vehicles
  • • Fuel economy of the turbo model is not competitive
