1.8 (93 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 2 stars

Performance Verdict

The automatic transmission further diminishes the already modest performance of the 1.8L engine, making it feel sluggish, especially on highways.

Fuel Economy

While still the most economical option, the automatic might slightly reduce efficiency compared to the manual 1.8L due to torque converter losses.

Best Use Case: Urban commuting, very budget-conscious buyers, those who prioritize ease of driving over performance.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Iconic 90s styling
  • • Potent turbocharged AWD performance (GSX/GST)
  • • Engaging driving dynamics
  • • Strong aftermarket support
  • • Affordable entry into sports car ownership

Cons:

  • • Interior plastics feel dated
  • • Rear seats are cramped
  • • Fuel economy can be poor on turbo models
  • • Rust can be an issue on older models
  • • Maintenance for turbo models can be complex
