3.5 V6 24V (215 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers strong power for its size, providing decent acceleration for an SUV of its era, though the manual transmission can feel a bit sluggish compared to the automatic.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is notably poor, especially in urban driving, making it an expensive choice for daily commuting.

Best Use Case: Occasional highway cruising and light off-road adventures where power is appreciated over fuel efficiency.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Excellent off-road capability and robust construction
  • • Spacious interior and large cargo capacity (especially wagon models)
  • • Strong towing capacity, particularly with diesel engines
  • • Reliable engines (especially the 3.5 V6 if maintained)
  • • Good visibility from the high driving position

Cons:

  • • Very poor fuel economy for petrol V6 models
  • • Leisurely acceleration for most diesel variants
  • • Dated interior design and materials
  • • Firm ride quality, especially on rough roads
  • • Lack of modern safety features compared to contemporary SUVs
