2.2i (111 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 6 stars

Performance Verdict

The naturally aspirated 2.2i engine with 111 Hp provides adequate, but not thrilling, performance. It's suitable for daily commuting and offers a more relaxed driving experience compared to the GT.

Fuel Economy

While specific fuel economy figures are not provided, this non-turbocharged variant would likely offer slightly better economy than the GT, making it a more practical choice for budget-conscious drivers.

Best Use Case: Urban commuting, economical daily driving, and those seeking a reliable, less performance-focused coupe.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Sleek, aerodynamic styling that still turns heads
  • • Engaging handling and ride dynamics (especially GT models)
  • • Practical hatchback design with good cargo space
  • • Reliable Mazda-derived powertrains
  • • Affordable entry into a classic sporty coupe market

Cons:

  • • Interior plastics and design are dated by modern standards
  • • Rear seats are cramped for adults
  • • Limited safety features compared to contemporary vehicles
  • • Some parts can be harder to find due to age
  • • Fuel economy can be high for the V6 and spirited GT driving
