Performance Verdict

Fuel Economy

Typical for a large V8 truck of this vintage, fuel economy is a significant drawback, especially in city driving.

Best Use Case: General utility, light to moderate towing, highway cruising, family hauler.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious SuperCrew cabin for passengers and gear
  • • Strong towing and hauling capabilities
  • • Robust V8 engine options (especially 5.4L)
  • • Durable construction suitable for work
  • • Good value as a used truck

Cons:

  • • Poor fuel economy across all V8 engines
  • • Large size can be challenging for city driving and parking
  • • Some known engine issues (e.g., spark plug problems on Triton V8s)
  • • Ride quality can be stiff, typical for a truck
  • • Interior materials are utilitarian, not luxurious
