DR 5.0:

The Chery Tiggo 5x , also known in most global markets as the Chery Tiggo 4, is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by the Chinese automaker Chery Automobile since 2017. It is the fifth model of the company's Tiggo crossover product series.
The design of the Tiggo 5x was originally previewed by the Concept Beta that was first displayed in April 2014 at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.
The Tiggo 5x went on sale in China on the second half of 2017, positioned between the subcompact Tiggo 3x and the compact Tiggo 3. Much like the marketing position of the Tiggo 3x, the Tiggo 5x is the sportier version of the Tiggo 5 despite being a completely different model. Its platform would be later shared by the Cowin Showjet in 2019....(Read more on Wikipedia)

1.5 (116 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 3 stars

Performance Verdict

The naturally aspirated 1.5L engine provides adequate power for urban commuting and light duties. However, its 116 Hp and 136 Nm torque feel strained during highway overtakes or when fully loaded, requiring frequent gear changes with the 5-speed manual.

Fuel Economy

With a combined WLTP of 8.2 l/100 km, the fuel economy is average for a naturally aspirated compact SUV of this size. It's not class-leading, and real-world figures might be higher under spirited driving.

Best Use Case: City / Suburban Commuting

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Competitive pricing and strong value proposition
  • • Modern exterior styling after the facelift
  • • Spacious interior for a compact SUV
  • • Available powerful 1.5L Turbo engine option
  • • Good standard equipment levels for the price

Cons:

  • • Base 1.5L naturally aspirated engine lacks power for highway use
  • • No Euro NCAP safety rating available
  • • Brand perception and long-term reliability can be a concern for some buyers
  • • Fuel consumption of the base engine is not particularly efficient
  • • CVT transmission might not appeal to all drivers
