The KGM Korando, formerly SsangYong Korando is a mini SUV or compact crossover SUV built by the South Korean automobile manufacturer SsangYong from 1983 to 2006 and from 2010 onwards. 2.3 (77 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 2 stars

Performance Verdict

Severely underpowered, the automatic transmission further dulls performance, making it struggle significantly on inclines or at highway speeds.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy will likely be poor due to the engine constantly working hard with the automatic gearbox, especially in varied driving conditions.

Best Use Case: City (very light use)

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Excellent off-road capability due to robust body-on-frame construction and 4x4 system.
  • • Distinctive and unique styling that stands out from competitors.
  • • Some engines (like the 2.3L petrol and 2.9L diesel) are Mercedes-Benz derived, offering proven reliability.
  • • Good value for money, often more affordable than comparable SUVs.
  • • Spacious trunk with good cargo capacity when rear seats are folded.

Cons:

  • • On-road refinement and handling are not on par with more modern or car-based SUVs.
  • • Interior quality and design can feel dated and utilitarian.
  • • Fuel economy, especially for the larger petrol engines, can be high.
  • • Limited passenger space in the rear, particularly for taller adults.
  • • Lack of modern safety features and no Euro NCAP rating.
