4.6 i V8 32 (279 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

Offers robust and smooth performance, perfectly adequate for daily driving and comfortable highway travel. While less potent than the 305 Hp variant, it still provides ample power for a luxury sedan.

Fuel Economy

Marginally better fuel economy than its higher-output sibling, but still a thirsty V8. Expect significant fuel costs, particularly in stop-and-go traffic.

Best Use Case: Balanced daily driving and comfortable long-distance highway journeys where a slight improvement in economy is desired.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Luxurious and spacious interior with high comfort levels
  • • Powerful Northstar V8 engines offer strong acceleration
  • • Smooth and quiet ride, ideal for long-distance cruising
  • • Distinctive American luxury styling
  • • Advanced features for its time (e.g., adaptive suspension)

Cons:

  • • Northstar engine reliability concerns, particularly head gaskets
  • • High fuel consumption across all engine variants
  • • Front-wheel drive architecture may not appeal to all luxury buyers
  • • Interior design and technology can feel dated by modern standards
  • • Maintenance and repair costs can be significant
