3.7 V6 (302 Hp) 4x4 Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

This V6 offers surprisingly strong horsepower, making it a capable engine for general use and lighter towing, especially with the added traction of 4x4.

Fuel Economy

A more fuel-efficient option compared to the V8s, though the 4x4 system will slightly impact overall economy. A good balance for those needing capability without extreme V8 thirst.

Best Use Case: Daily driving, light to moderate towing, all-weather utility, fleet applications.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Extensive range of powerful and capable engines, including V8s and efficient EcoBoost V6s.
  • • Robust towing and hauling capabilities suitable for various work and recreational needs.
  • • Comfortable and spacious SuperCab interior with practical features.
  • • Strong aftermarket support and parts availability.

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy can be a significant concern, especially with larger V8 engines and 4x4.
  • • Large size can make urban maneuvering and parking challenging.
  • • Ride quality, while good for a truck, is still truck-like and can be firm.
  • • Some older V8 engines (e.g., 5.4L Triton) had known issues (spark plugs, cam phasers).
