Performance Verdict
The 7.0 V8 delivered substantial power for its era, ensuring smooth, effortless cruising. While 303 Hp was impressive, its immense weight limited acceleration, making it more about stately progress than outright speed.
Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is exceptionally poor, typical for a large displacement V8 from this period. Urban consumption of 19 l/100 km highlights its inefficiency, making it a costly engine to run.
Best Use Case:
Ceremonial duties, long-distance highway cruising, and official transport where comfort and presence outweigh efficiency.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Exceptional passenger comfort and spaciousness
- • Powerful V8 engine for smooth cruising (for its time)
- • Unique historical significance and imposing presence
- • Robust, heavy-duty construction
- • Distinctive classic Soviet luxury styling
Cons:
- • Extremely poor fuel economy
- • Lacks modern safety features and driver aids
- • Very large and cumbersome for city driving
- • Limited parts availability and specialized maintenance required
- • Dated handling and braking compared to modern vehicles
