Volkswagen Touran:
The Volkswagen Touran is a compact multi-purpose vehicle manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen since 2003 and sold in Europe and other select markets. The Touran has been sold in Japan as the Golf Touran and the crossover-styled variant as the CrossTouran. The name 'Touran' is a portmanteau of 'Tour' and 'Sharan'. Performance Verdict
The most powerful petrol option, delivering good acceleration for an MPV with a 0-100 km/h time of 10.4 seconds. It offers a more dynamic driving experience than lower-powered petrols.
Fuel Economy
Specific fuel data is missing, but as a larger FSI engine, it will likely have higher fuel consumption compared to the TDI models, especially under spirited driving.
Best Use Case:
Drivers seeking stronger petrol performance for mixed driving, including occasional highway trips.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious and highly practical interior with flexible seating options
- • Wide range of efficient and robust TDI diesel engines
- • Solid build quality and comfortable ride for long journeys
- • Excellent Euro NCAP safety rating for its time
- • Good cargo capacity, especially with rear seats folded
Cons:
- • Exterior design is somewhat bland and utilitarian
- • Some petrol engines (FSI) can be prone to carbon buildup issues
- • Entry-level petrol engines can feel underpowered when fully loaded
- • Older models may suffer from common VW electrical gremlins
- • Interior plastics, while durable, lack premium feel in some areas
