Toyota Crown:

The Toyota Crown is an automobile which has been produced by Toyota in Japan since 1955. It is primarily a line of executive cars that is marketed as an upscale offering in the Toyota lineup.

2.8 (MS1K) (146 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 7 stars

Performance Verdict

The 2.8L 5M-E engine provided adequate and smooth performance for the Crown Wagon, focusing on comfortable cruising rather than outright speed. It delivered sufficient power for highway travel and daily duties.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy for the 2.8L engine was typical for a large, naturally aspirated inline-six of its era, meaning it would be considered poor by modern standards, especially in urban driving.

Best Use Case: Highway / Long-distance cruising

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional reliability and durability
  • • Spacious and comfortable interior for its class
  • • Smooth and refined inline-six engine
  • • Classic Japanese executive car appeal
  • • Relatively easy to maintain for its age

Cons:

  • • Poor fuel economy by modern standards
  • • Outdated safety features and crash performance
  • • Limited availability of certain spare parts
  • • Handling is soft and not engaging
  • • Dated technology and interior amenities
