3.0 i 24V (230 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

The naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE engine provides smooth, refined power, offering more than adequate performance for daily driving and comfortable highway cruising. It's known for its linear power delivery.

Fuel Economy

With a combined fuel consumption of 9.3 l/100 km, this variant offers a slightly more economical option than its turbocharged counterpart, making it a practical choice for regular use.

Best Use Case: Comfortable daily commuting, reliable long-distance cruising, those prioritizing smoothness and longevity over outright speed.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Legendary 2JZ engines (both GTE and GE) known for reliability and durability
  • • Exceptional performance, especially from the 2JZ-GTE turbo variant
  • • High level of comfort and refinement for a luxury sedan of its era
  • • Robust build quality and strong chassis
  • • Significant tuning potential for the turbocharged model

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy can be high, particularly for the turbo model under spirited driving
  • • Interior design and technology are dated by modern standards
  • • Parts availability for specific JDM components can be challenging outside Japan
  • • Older safety technology compared to contemporary vehicles
  • • Automatic transmission options are not as engaging as modern gearboxes
