Subaru XV I 2.0DL (109 Hp)
Subaru XV:
The Subaru Crosstrek is a compact crossover SUV produced by Subaru since 2012. It is a successor to the Outback Sport in the United States and Canada, and the Impreza XV globally. Initially, the vehicle was marketed as the XV globally, and as the XV Crosstrek in the United States and Canada. In 2015, Subaru dropped the XV moniker in the United States and Canada, marketing it simply as the Crosstrek for the 2016 model year and onward. In 2022, Subaru introduced the third-generation model, using the Crosstrek nameplate globally for the first time....(Read more on Wikipedia)

This has been an issue for lots of Subaru drivers (0.5qt per 500 miles in some cases) but overall it's not a catastrophic issue like the Toyota pedal box recall or the airbag one going on now.
People complaining about their cars on the internet? No surprise there. None of the FB20 or FB25 Subarus I've driven have had excessive oil consumption but no company is perfect and I'm not saying this isn

I am also curious. I recently bought a 2015 WRX and I hope it doesn't effect me that much.

i have had my fair share of shit luck with my subaru, but i would not worry that much about it. they will burn a little oil like any car can not just boxer engines. if these stories worry you then make it a habit to check your oil more often (most people never check it in between oil changes). Also remember that people who don't have issues don't post all that often because they have nothing to ta

I have this[ problem as described here](http://www.reddit.com/r/subaru/comments/2lltan/2010_outback_oil_consumption_problems/).

Just got myself a used 2012 forester, 26k on it, i wonder if this is why it was being sold ;\

anything with 0w-20 oil will burn about a quart every 1k miles. that is why higher end cars stopped using it and went back to 5w or 0w-40.

I like all of those cars!
Matrix 2.4L engine can burn oil but it's quiet peppy. The 1.8L is dead reliable and kinda slow
The Suzuki is kinda small but have seen plenty of then with lots of miles on them and I have a friend that has been nothing but happy with his.
The Subaru Crosstrek is the coolest car, roomiest, but also really slow. (0-60 in ten+ sec)
👍 POSITIVE
The new subaru's with a chain do not have the same amount of gasket problems. They also have the best AWD.

In general, Subarus when maintained are as reliable as most things on the road. Every brand has lemons and cars that are plagued with issues. A forester wouldn’t scare me. Just make sure you stay up to date on maintenance and do CVT services. Subaru at one point claimed it was a lifetime fluid for the CVT which is just not true and I’m not sure if they’ve changed that guidance. I’d personally do a
👍 POSITIVE
They’re very reliable. As are the majority of big modern manufacturers. Remember that most people on the internet who will write about their car experiences online will probably be negative no matter the maker.
As an Aussie we see thousands of modern CVT Subarus hit past the 100,000mile/160,000km mark in only a few years with no issues whatsoever.
