5.7 Hemi V8 (390 Hp) 4x4 Automatic Verdict:

Rating 5 stars

Performance Verdict

The Hemi V8 delivers robust power and torque, making it excellent for heavy towing, hauling, and spirited acceleration. The 4x4 system further enhances its capability in challenging terrains.

Fuel Economy

Despite cylinder deactivation technology, fuel economy remains a significant drawback, especially under heavy load or with 4x4 engaged. It's a thirsty engine.

Best Use Case: Heavy towing, demanding work applications, off-road adventures, performance-oriented truck buyers needing maximum capability.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Powerful V8 engine options (especially Hemi)
  • • Comfortable and car-like ride quality for a pickup
  • • Spacious and well-appointed Crew Cab interior
  • • Strong towing and hauling capabilities
  • • Distinctive and aggressive exterior styling

Cons:

  • • Poor fuel economy across all V8 engines
  • • Large turning circle makes maneuvering difficult in tight spaces
  • • Some interior plastics can feel cheap compared to rivals
  • • Potential for rust issues on older models (frame, body panels)
  • • High maintenance costs for a full-size truck
