Lada 2111 4 1.6i 16V (90 Hp)
Overall Rating
Lada 2111:
The Lada 110 or VAZ-2110 is a compact car built by the Russian automaker AvtoVAZ from 1995 to 2009. It spawned two close derivatives: the Lada 111 estate and the Lada 112 hatchback.
The Lada 110 and its variants were replaced in 2007 by the Lada Priora; which was a largely restyled and modernised version of the Lada 110.
The prototype of the Lada 110, known as the 300 series, was created in 1987 and optimized for aerodynamics in Zuffenhausen, Germany, in cooperation between AvtoVAZ and Porsche engineers. The first photos of the new compact car were published in the popular monthly magazine Za Rulem in November 1990, and the car itself was demonstrated at the AvtoVAZ Tolyatti factory in 1991. Serial production was planned to start in the following year, but an economic crisis stalled the project and the first cars did not roll off the assembly line until June 27, 1995. The Lada 110 featured a 1. 6 litre engine producing approximately 90 hp. Production began with 8-valve engines; a 16 valve engine was offered later. Overall, the car weighed around 1050 kilograms. It had electric windows, trip computer, power steering, and galvanized body panels. Fuel-injected models were equipped with electronic engine management system. In early 2006, new taillights and a new dashboard were introduced....(Read more on Wikipedia)
4 Overview:
Lada 2111 (4). With 131 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. It has moderate fuel consumption (~10 l/100km). Weighing only 1020 kg, it’s quite light. Front‑wheel drive delivers efficiency and easy handling. Acceleration is relatively slow (0–100 km/h in 15 s). The top speed reaches 160 km/h. A car with an extended rear cargo area, combining passenger comfort with increased storage. Seating for 5 makes it ideal for daily use.
The Lada 2111 generation was not tested by Euro NCAP. Vehicles from this era, especially those designed for budget markets, typically offered very basic safety features and would likely perform poorly by modern crash test standards.
1.6i 16V (90 Hp) Verdict:
Performance Verdict
The 90 Hp 1.6i 16V engine provides adequate power for daily commuting and light loads, but acceleration is sluggish (15 seconds 0-100 km/h), making overtakes challenging and highway cruising less refined.
Fuel Economy
With a combined fuel consumption of 7.3 l/100 km, the economy is reasonable for a naturally aspirated 1.6L engine from its era, though not particularly efficient by today's standards.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Spacious and practical station wagon body
- • Low purchase price and running costs
- • Simple, easy-to-maintain mechanics

Cons:
- • Very basic safety features and poor crash test performance (ARCAP)
- • Underpowered engine with slow acceleration
- • Dated interior design and materials
- • Limited comfort and refinement compared to Western rivals
