Honda Passport:

The Honda Passport is a line of sport utility vehicles from the Japanese automaker Honda. Originally, it was a rebadged version of the Isuzu Rodeo, a mid-size SUV sold between 1993 and 2002. It was introduced in 1993 for the 1994 model year as Honda's first entry into the growing SUV market of the 1990s in the United States. The first and second generation Passport was manufactured by Subaru Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana. 2.6i (120 Hp) 4WD Automatic Verdict:

Rating 2 stars

Performance Verdict

The 120 Hp engine, especially with an automatic transmission and 4WD, struggles to provide adequate acceleration, resulting in a sluggish driving experience, particularly at highway speeds.

Fuel Economy

While likely marginally better than the V6, the low power output means the engine works harder, still resulting in poor real-world fuel economy for its performance level.

Best Use Case: City driving, light utility, or for drivers prioritizing initial cost over performance and who are not in a hurry.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Robust Isuzu Rodeo platform provides good reliability
  • • Capable 4WD system for off-road excursions
  • • Spacious interior for passengers and cargo
  • • Practical and durable for its era
  • • Good value as a used vehicle

Cons:

  • • High fuel consumption, especially with the V6 engine
  • • Sluggish performance with the 2.6L engine and automatic transmission
  • • Dated interior design and ride quality by modern standards
  • • Rebadged identity lacked unique Honda engineering
  • • Limited safety features compared to contemporary vehicles
