3.5 V6 (282 Hp) 4x4 Automatic Verdict:

Rating 3 stars

Performance Verdict

Provides sufficient power for general use, but the added weight and drag of the 4x4 system can make it feel less responsive than 2WD variants.

Fuel Economy

Higher fuel consumption compared to its 2WD counterpart, making it less competitive in terms of efficiency.

Best Use Case: Suitable for light-duty applications requiring occasional 4x4 capability for adverse weather or mild off-road conditions.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Innovative aluminum-alloy body significantly reduces weight, improving fuel economy and payload/towing capacity.
  • • Diverse and powerful engine lineup, including efficient EcoBoost V6s and the robust Coyote V8.
  • • Impressive towing and payload capabilities across the range.
  • • Comfortable and well-appointed interior with available advanced technology features.
  • • Strong resale value and widespread dealer network.

Cons:

  • • Fuel economy can still be high, especially with V8 engines or 4x4 configurations.
  • • Large size can be challenging to maneuver and park in urban environments.
  • • Some early models experienced minor issues with the first-generation EcoBoost engines (though largely resolved by 2015).
  • • Higher trim levels can become quite expensive.
