The first two generations used the Ford CD2 platform, jointly developed with Mazda, and was co-developed with two rebadged variants, the Mazda Tribute and Mercury Mariner. 2.5 Duratec (168 Hp) Automatic Verdict:
Performance Verdict
Adequate for city driving, but can feel underpowered and strained on highways or with a full load.

Decent fuel economy for a naturally aspirated engine, but generally less efficient than the EcoBoost options in real-world scenarios, at 9.4 l/100 km.

- • Modern and attractive styling
- • Comfortable and composed ride quality
