1.6 i 16V (109 Hp) Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

The 1.6L engine provides sufficient power for daily commuting and city driving. While adequate, it can feel a bit strained when fully loaded or during aggressive highway overtakes, making it less ideal for performance-oriented drivers.

Fuel Economy

With a combined fuel consumption of 7.8 l/100 km, this engine offers slightly better economy than the 1.8L, making it a more economical choice for those prioritizing running costs over outright power.

Best Use Case: City Commuting, Light Highway Use

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Spacious interior and large boot capacity for its class
  • • Affordable purchase price and running costs
  • • Comfortable ride quality, suitable for families
  • • Simple, proven mechanicals lead to decent reliability

Cons:

  • • Interior plastics can feel cheap and dated
  • • Engines, while adequate, lack excitement or strong performance
  • • Average Euro NCAP safety rating for its time
