Bentley Continental T 6.8 i V8 (426 Hp)
Overall Rating
Bentley Continental:
The Bentley Continental GT is a grand touring car manufactured and marketed by the British company Bentley Motors since 2003. The Continental GT is offered as a two-door coupé or convertible, with four seats. It was the first new Bentley released after the company's acquisition by Volkswagen AG in 1998, and the first Bentley to employ mass production manufacturing techniques. It was later joined by the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, a four-door saloon car variant.
In 1994, Rolls-Royce Motors who at that time owned the Bentley brand, previewed a convertible concept car at the Geneva Motor Show – the Concept Java. The car was designed to be a smaller, more affordable Bentley, yet still exclusive in order to maintain the integrity of the brand. T Overview:
Bentley Continental (T). With 875 Nm of torque, it offers ample pulling power. At around 2450 kg, it’s on the heavier side. Rear‑wheel drive offers dynamic handling and sporty feedback. Acceleration is excellent (0–100 km/h in 5.9 s). The top speed reaches 273 km/h. A two-door car with a fixed roof, known for its sporty design and dynamic performance. Seating for 4 makes it ideal for daily use.
The Bentley Continental T generation was not subjected to Euro NCAP crash testing, a common scenario for ultra-luxury, low-volume vehicles of its era. Safety features would have included ABS and robust construction, but modern active safety systems are absent.
6.8 i V8 (426 Hp) Verdict:
Performance Verdict
This 6.8L turbocharged V8 delivers monumental torque (875 Nm) from low RPMs, providing effortless acceleration and immense power for a car of its size. The 426 Hp ensures rapid progress, making it a true grand tourer.
Fuel Economy
As expected for a large displacement, turbocharged V8 from this era, fuel economy is very poor. Urban consumption of 28.1 l/100 km highlights its thirst, making it expensive to run daily.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
- • Exceptional V8 performance and immense torque
- • Unrivaled luxury and handcrafted interior
- • Commanding road presence and exclusivity
- • Smooth, refined ride quality ideal for grand touring
Cons:
