Ford F-250 Super Duty:

The Ford Super Duty is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb , Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. 6.2 V8 (385 Hp) Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

A dependable workhorse, this 6.2L V8 provides adequate power for most towing and hauling needs, though it can feel less potent than the larger engines under heavy loads.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is poor, as expected for a large naturally aspirated V8 in a heavy-duty truck, especially when towing.

Best Use Case: General utility, light to moderate towing, fleet use.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Exceptional towing and hauling capabilities across the engine lineup.
  • • Wide range of powerful V8 engine options, including robust gasoline and potent diesel.
  • • Durable and robust construction designed for heavy-duty work.
  • • Comfortable and well-equipped interior for a work truck.
  • • Strong resale value and extensive dealer network.

Cons:

  • • Poor fuel economy, especially with gasoline engines.
  • • Large size can make maneuvering in urban environments challenging.
  • • Ride quality can be stiff when unladen, typical for heavy-duty trucks.
  • • Higher purchase price and maintenance costs compared to light-duty trucks.
