2.3 (240 Hp) AWD Automatic Verdict:

Rating 4 stars

Performance Verdict

The 2.3L K23A1 turbocharged engine delivers strong acceleration and a sporty feel, especially when combined with Acura's advanced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Power delivery is robust, though some turbo lag is present.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is a significant drawback for this engine, with urban consumption figures being particularly high for a four-cylinder. It requires premium fuel, adding to running costs.

Best Use Case: Spirited daily driving and highway cruising, where the turbo power and SH-AWD can be fully appreciated. Less ideal for pure city driving due to fuel consumption.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • • Engaging Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system
  • • Potent 2.3L turbocharged engine with 240 Hp
  • • Sporty handling for an SUV
  • • Premium interior quality and features for its time
  • • Reliable Honda/Acura build quality

Cons:

  • • Poor fuel economy, especially in urban driving
  • • Requires premium fuel
  • • Noticeable turbo lag at lower RPMs
  • • Firm ride quality may not appeal to all
  • • Interior design became dated quickly
